Visitors, plus a gender reveal!

Last week my best friend from Hobbs and her son came to visit us for the day.  We played around Midland for several hours.  We first stopped by the fire trucks and ambulance that were parked, the firemen were accepting donations to MFD boot.  After donating money the firemen insisted we take the boys to look at the fire trucks so we parked and let the boys look around.  I know Mr. S loves looking for trucks and calls all vehicles trucks.  Beckett learned a new word from vrooms and know says big truck.  Beckett boy wanted to touch the lights and tires, the boys had a fun time.  After our little detour I treated our friends to Palino's Pizza CafĂ©.  What's better than pizza and cannoli's??  I haven't mentioned that my friend D is expecting her second baby in September.  While she was in town she wanted to set up her gender reveal idea.  Hobbs is currently out of helium and her idea included balloons.  After doing some shopping at party city, dollar tree, and target we went to take pictures of her gender revel at the museum of the southwest.  Beckett feel asleep on the drive to the museum and Mr. S stayed occupied with his cup of water and ice while we fought with the wind and the balloons to get the perfect picture.  After our fun day around town we headed back to my house for a potty break and a snack before they drove back home.  I sure miss living in the same town as my friend but we find a way to visit each other every few weeks.  I felt so blessed I could be a part of her gender revel so excited for her little family!

Saturday we had a lot of activities planned.  Like I said Richard was working. We started our morning with Allison's soccer game.  It was a hard game and our girls just weren't in sink.  We lost 5-0.  Allison was literally alone on the offense. While all the other players were trying to guard the goal. I was having a tough time with the boys.  It was a long morning and no one wanted to cooperate.  Plus Beckett's shoes were in Richards car and we had to run to target to buy shoes which made us late to the game.  (I have a like 5 pairs of shoes size 8 that are to big) I forgot to bring snacks and drinks for the boys.  Cooper was trying to grab a car over Beckett out of the wagon compartment.  This made the whole wagon tip over and poor Cooper did a dive and then front flip into the ground. He tour up his face, scratch his leg and neck.  Beckett scrapped his nose.  Later during the game Beckett ran onto the field.  Thank goodness grandma bought snacks for the boys which made things a little better.

Next up was a baby shower for a friend which we just stopped by for a minute and chatted and dropped off my gift.

Back home for lunch then back out to Cooper's game.  My totally awesome in laws stayed with a sleeping Beckett and my father in law took Allison to her best friends birthday party.  It was absolutely fun to just drive with one kid and watch Cooper's entire game with out distraction. Cooper's team lost 2-0.  But all the boys played tough.

Back home to get dressed.  Richard came home and we head over to my in laws church for my nieces confirmation.  There were 51 confirmation canidents which meant a longer mass.  I didn't mind because Cooper slept through most of the whole thing and Richard took a loud Beckett out.  I was able to listen and enjoy quietly.  After mass we went with Richards family to Furris for a quick meal.  We actually closed the place down.

Allison played with her birthday gift from her cousin the new just dance wii game.  I had to grab a picture of her and Beckett dancing.

Skate party

We ended up having Allison's birthday party on Friday afternoon.  Richard was working through the weekend and we had many other commitments Saturday.  With this week being finals for Richard he was deep into his studies last week and working over time do some issues.  I usually do most of the birthday planning but at least I normally have Richards help.  Thankfully everything came together Friday.  We even had three of Allison's friends ride home with us after school.  Allison had 12 friends come to her skate party! We had glow bracelets/necklaces, pizza, drinks, and cupcakes!  The kids rarely came around because they didn't want to stop skating. Allison came in third place in the limbo!  I am so thankful our family and friends came to celebrate Allison's 9th birthday with us.

Museum

Last week we went to the petroleum museum.  Chevron host a bi-monthly event at the museum featuring different exhibits.  This event was creature feature.  They had many animals on display to see: horses, lambs, goats, birds, lizards, and snakes.  Many of the exhibits featured animal tracks, the food chain, hibernation, habitats, environments, and fossils.  They also have refreshments with desserts and drinks.  The kids always have a blast learning new things and touring the museum each time.

I didn't get the opportunity to blog much last week.  So these next few post I am going to be playing catch up.

Last week I had a lot of things I was involved in.  To begin with when I signed up for PTA we had just moved to Midland and I wanted to help with one of the events on the list for the year but we were renovating and Richard was still in New Mexico.  I signed up for one of the last big PTA activities for the year, teacher appreciation week in April.  It seemed far away, but I didn't realize it was the week of Allison's birthday.  The activities for the week were themed for the day for example Marker Monday and Thirsty Thursday.  Any child could participate and bring the themed gift to their teacher.  The room mom was responsible on filling a basket with goodies (the PTA provided the basket) to give to the teacher Friday.  We were to recruit parents into donating goodies for the basket.  The crazy part for me was doing this for both kids and making sure we went out the door with the teacher gift each day. I actually got very crafty with the gifts: M&M's Many & Many thanks for all you do (M&M candy for treat Tuesday) and  Awesome teacher for (AW root beer for thirsty Thursday). Friday was Flower Friday bring a flower or drawl a flower for you teacher and the kids picked roses from our rose bushes.  I am bummed I didn't take any pictures of the teacher gifts.

I was also in charge of our girls 8-11 church program called activity days last week.  The girls have a activity twice a month on the first and third Wednesday.  I am just the primary secretary but we had released the teacher in charge and we hadn't called another person to be take over.  I came up with an awesome lesson on friendship and the positive characteristic a friend should have.  I read a beautiful story on a two girls and their struggles in a friendship and how they worked through it.  I passed out friendship bracelets for the girls to give out to friend they choose with requirement of being kind and a good friend.  We also played a human scavenger hunt game so the girls get to get to know each other.  Afterwards we listed qualities of a good friend.  Then we made friendship trail mix, each snack represented a positive characteristic.  It went super well and all the girls seemed to have a fun time.

Lastly I was busy all week preparing and planning Allison birthday party on Friday.  I went to the store several times for all the party supplies.  Made, mailed, and personally handed out 16 invitations.  Put together 16 goodie bags.  Made 50 cupcakes.

I am so glad I survived the busy week and that everything came together!

Letter from mom

I wrote this to Allison yesterday.  This picture is from last Tuesday.  If were able Allison and I have a weekly ice cream date every Tuesday at baskin robins.

You turned 9 today.  Last year when you turned 8 I was ready.  We had been preparing for your baptism for a year. But nine it crept up on me. Your nearly my height, two more lousy inches and we will be the same height. We always knew you would be taller then me, I am the runt of my family.  Why has it happened so fast. I remember when you were hours old and I held you for the first time.  After your labor and weaning off the epidural I was weak.  My arms didn't seem strong enough to hold you.  But you fit perfectly into my arms.  Many times as you slept I would listen to you breath and watch you chest rise and fall. You didn't stay a baby for long.  You crawled, walked, and talked all before the normal milestones.  You came from heaven with a driven spirit.  You accomplish everything you set your mind to.  I hope you know there are no limits, dream big my daughter.  You stole my heart from the minute I first heard yours beat. Many memories were made today.  Happy birthday my Alli-cat I love you more than you could ever comprehend.
