Field Day 2014

Allison had her field day this past Thursday.  First off the last three field days were brutally hot! I will never forget the 100 degree weather field day where I was pregnant with Beckett pushing Cooper in a stroller. I nearly passed out from heat exhaustion. But this year we had a storm system that blew in with projected thunderstorms and highs in the low. 80's.  Perfect weather for a day outdoors.  I was impressed with coordination of events and parent volunteers.  Also there were so many fun field day events for the kids.  My favorite was the obstacle course.  My only complaint is they basically took the competition out of field day.  I understand they want everyone to be equal but a little classroom rivalry never hurt anybody.  Since I am the room mom after field day I thought I would treat the whole class to cupcakes especially after our devastating loss in the tug of war.   Allison was so excited to show me all her friends wrote on each other's shirts.

Cooper's field day was on Friday and Richard luckily had the weekend  off.  Beckett was surprisingly calm and stayed content in his stroller unlike the day before at Alli's field day.  Cooper was so happy to see us, especially since I brought him a blue gatoraid his favorite.  The weather was the same simply beautiful.  Cooper kept saying how much fun he was having and how it was the best day ever.  I feel so lucky that he got such a great teacher and has so many buddies.  Before school ended I brought Cooper's class drinks and cupcakes to celebrate his birthday early since he has a summer bday.  The first graders were also in his class watching a movie.  He kept telling me on the drive home that it was so cool the first graders even sang to him!  I am so glad he felt special I sure love that blue eyed boy!

I almost forgot to mention both kids got to do the three legged race with both there best friends.

Night with the Sockers

Saturday night we went to the Sockers soccer games at the Rockhounds stadium.  It was a special game because of free jersey night for children.  The kids settled in with cotton candy and pickles.  A few of Cooper's friends were also at the game and he ran back and forth to sit with them.  Allison was so focused on the game I never heard a sound for her.  Beckett enjoyed going back and forth between my lap and Richards.  The sun set and it was beautiful weather.  I enjoyed watching the game with my little family.

Cooper's Soccer party

Saturday morning we had Cooper's end of season soccer party.  It couldn't have been nicer weather, it was slightly overcast.  The boys had a blast, probably the most fun they've had together all season.  We stayed over two hours.  We barely gathered the boys together long enough to hand out trophies and catch a picture.  Although the boys did find time to grab cookies and drinks.  All the parents grabbed each others numbers so we could make playdates for the summer.  So thankful for Coach Ashley, she had such patience with the boys and taught them so much.  She has such a patient kind heart with four boys of her own!

22 months old

Beckett turned 22 months old on the 6th, I cant believe he will be 2 in two short months.  Some times Beckett looks like such a big boy to me doing knew things all the time, to smart for his own good, and he thinks he is as big as his older siblings.  But its short lived because Beckett will throw a fit for something as simple as not getting his way and I am remind he is still one and of course my baby.

Beckett hasn't made leaps and bounds in the talking department but he has improved.  Before Beckett wouldn't repeat anything I said.  Now he repeats everything I say and words his siblings say which isn't always good!  He has learned a lot of knew words.  I also require him to say words in order to receive something for example like please and thank you when he wants or gets something.  Or if he points to his brother's popsicle I make him say popsicle please.  He has been putting two words together I was loading pictures from Allison's birthday and he said "Alli's doll".  I still think he is behind but I see progress and I believe its just a matter of time before he is talking all the time.

A few weeks ago Beckett managed to get a few ant bits while at Cooper's soccer practice.  We learned last year that he is very allergic.  Poor guy got two bites on his neck, arm, and leg.  They all swelled up to the size of a dollar coin/golf ball.  After two dose of Benadryl the swelling slightly went down.  It took almost a week for the swelling to go away completely.  The crazy thing about it is that Beckett is terrified of bugs expect ants!  He shakes he is so scared of spiders.  I wish he would leave ants alone instead of playing with them!

A few weeks ago we had this crazy thunder storm roll in during the night, it literally poured hard rain.  My rose bushes were trashed from the rain and tree branches/leafs were all over the yard and streets.  Well apparently someone didn't put the lid back on the sandbox and it was full of water.  I hadn't notice because Beckett and I were running errands all over town most of the day.  When I picked up the kids from school I opened the back door and started on dinner.  When I looked out the kitchen window I noticed Beckett sitting in the soaking wet sand, as he was chunking wet sand at Cooper.  I decided to look the boys in the backyard while I finished dinner and got towels and started the bath tub.  They didn't seem to notice, in fact Beckett was angry when I took him out of the sandbox to hose him down.  It was like wrestling a dog trying to hose him off outside before bathing him.

Beckett has found a new interest for the toilet much to his mothers disgust!  Cooper is terrible about leaving the lid up or light on.  Its a daily battle, because he never does both!  Actually since this has happened he has actually gotten way better, maybe he finally understood how important it was and how much trouble he would be in.  Anyway back to Beckett and his toilet fun.  So because Cooper would leave the lid up and/or light on, Beckett would start venturing into the bathroom and started throughing his cars or action figures in the toilet.  One day he took a step further.  Cooper didn't flush the toilet and left the light on and lid up.  Beckett thought it would be super fun to unroll the entire toilet paper in the toilet water and then bring to me in the kitchen where Allison and I were working on her home work at the table.  Which meant he traveled through most of the house!  Let that picture sink in!  I know boys make mess, but this particular type of thing really grosses me out!

One more disgusting story left.  Beckett has been urinating a lot more at night, resulting in him peeing out of his diaper.  Which meant washing sheets and comforter.  We've tried to lessen his juice/water in take which didn't work.  So I bought these night time diapers.  It was a busy Tuesday afternoon on top of having family coming over for my niece's birthday.  I had managed to keep the house clean.  Dinner had been eaten and we were all head to soccer practice's.  I had told Richard to change Beckett's stinky diaper while I tried to find Cooper's missing shin guards.  A little later I heard Richard yell for to tell me he and Alli were leaving to practice.  While I finished getting Cooper's cleats on him.  Have I ever mentioned putting on soccer cleats is like top 10 of things I hate to do!  Anyway I told Cooper to get to the car while I filled up Beckett's sippy cup and I hear Cooper yell EWWW!!  I guess Richard didn't change the dirty diaper and some how the inside of the diaper (the best way I can describe it is gel like mush) was mixed together with Beckett poop and where ever he walked around the house there was a trail of this nasty mixer.  Lets just say it was the worst mess I ever had to clean up.  Beckett had to have a bath, the bath tub had to be Cloroxed, and we didn't make it to soccer practice, but we still hosted the birthday.

My poor Beckett had his first stomach bug last week.  He was so confused and just wanted to be held by mommy.  Which meant mommy got it to, and so did daddy and sister.  At least it was one of those 12 hour things and not 24 hours!

On to less gross things..  Beckett loves going to the park!  He screams "play park" when we pass a park.  We've been walking outside for our daily three mile walk.  My normal path passes a park which means we have to stop and play for a little bit.  Beckett loves slides and will say "Weeeee" when going down.  He also loves swings and acts a little memorized while sitting there while I push.  Beckett also loves animals!!  His favorit are dogs, and points them out all the time.  Beckett also loves birds and shouts out bird when he sees them.

Some days are easy with Beckett.  Its normally just me and him always together.  Beckett seems very content with just being by my side.  He will bring toys where ever I am and play next to me.  He still doesn't like strangers.  When I tell Beckett where going to see grandma and granddad he says NO, poor guy knows they babysit him occasionally.  Beckett does have meltdown like any typical toddler.  And right know he is in a very difficult hitting stage, but where working through it.  I stare at Beckett sometimes and I cant believe he is mine and that he really is apart of our family.  I think I got so use to the fact that it was only Alli and Cooper for so long.  I am so blessed to be this lil guys mom, he enriches everyday of my life with his amazing hugs and sly smile.

Mother's Day

I had a fabulous Mother's Day!  I was spoiled by my husband and children all weekend.  Richard had been bugging me about what I wanted for Mother's Day.  I mentioned to Richard that I wanted a table chair set or an outdoor swing.  We spend so much time outdoors, I wanted something we could enjoy with some shade.  When I found out how much outdoor furniture is, I told Richard to nix my idea.  Friday I had ran to the mall to get my mother in-laws gift and a pedicure.  When I came home my sweetheart and kiddos had put together my swing and I was completely surprised!  Saturday we went out to dinner alone, I cant tell you how nice it is to eat a meal with out a mess and constant chatter.  Although I love to cook its just nice to be served every once in awhile.  The next morning I had cinnamon rolls in bed alone.  After getting dressed alone I came out and everyone had eaten and dressed for church.  I had two card/colorings from each one of my kiddos.  Lots of kisses and hugs, and Beckett even said "HAPPY MOM".  I always love to go to church on Mother's Day, its field with beautiful talks, and special attention to all the mother's.  A few days latter I told my mom that I think I like Mother's Day better than my birthday.  I even got a nap in and the whole house cleaned, moped, and swept.  For dinner we had Richard's whole family over for a BBQ.  Richard grilled hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill and I made an angle food cake.  It was so nice to be surrounded by family and spend the afternoon together with people we love.  Although I really missed my mother the whole day.  I got to have a nice chat with my mom while I took my afternoon 3 mile walk.  I am so blessed by the women in my life.  I have had so many role model to list a few:  My mother, my Aunts, my mother in law, my sister in law.  All true characters of classy intelligent women.

Soccer season is over

The kids had there last soccer games on Saturday.  Of course at the exact same time!  My mother in law stayed with a sleeping Beckett. Richard left with Alli and I left with Cooper.  Cooper played his best and actual listened to the commands from his coach.  We left at half time to catch the last half of Allison's game.  It was a close first half we were up 2-1.  Also I didn't mention how we were short four players.  So only 4 on the field instead of 6!  Our girls were tired and managed to hold our lead!  We WON!  Richard decided to take all 5 girls out for ice cream!

Visitors, plus a gender reveal!

Last week my best friend from Hobbs and her son came to visit us for the day.  We played around Midland for several hours.  We first stopped by the fire trucks and ambulance that were parked, the firemen were accepting donations to MFD boot.  After donating money the firemen insisted we take the boys to look at the fire trucks so we parked and let the boys look around.  I know Mr. S loves looking for trucks and calls all vehicles trucks.  Beckett learned a new word from vrooms and know says big truck.  Beckett boy wanted to touch the lights and tires, the boys had a fun time.  After our little detour I treated our friends to Palino's Pizza Café.  What's better than pizza and cannoli's??  I haven't mentioned that my friend D is expecting her second baby in September.  While she was in town she wanted to set up her gender reveal idea.  Hobbs is currently out of helium and her idea included balloons.  After doing some shopping at party city, dollar tree, and target we went to take pictures of her gender revel at the museum of the southwest.  Beckett feel asleep on the drive to the museum and Mr. S stayed occupied with his cup of water and ice while we fought with the wind and the balloons to get the perfect picture.  After our fun day around town we headed back to my house for a potty break and a snack before they drove back home.  I sure miss living in the same town as my friend but we find a way to visit each other every few weeks.  I felt so blessed I could be a part of her gender revel so excited for her little family!

I am still playing catch up on the blog so some of these post are a week late.

May 3, 2014

Saturday we had a lot of activities planned.  Like I said Richard was working. We started our morning with Allison's soccer game.  It was a hard game and our girls just weren't in sink.  We lost 5-0.  Allison was literally alone on the offense. While all the other players were trying to guard the goal. I was having a tough time with the boys.  It was a long morning and no one wanted to cooperate.  Plus Beckett's shoes were in Richards car and we had to run to target to buy shoes which made us late to the game.  (I have a like 5 pairs of shoes size 8 that are to big) I forgot to bring snacks and drinks for the boys.  Cooper was trying to grab a car over Beckett out of the wagon compartment.  This made the whole wagon tip over and poor Cooper did a dive and then front flip into the ground. He tour up his face, scratch his leg and neck.  Beckett scrapped his nose.  Later during the game Beckett ran onto the field.  Thank goodness grandma bought snacks for the boys which made things a little better.

Next up was a baby shower for a friend which we just stopped by for a minute and chatted and dropped off my gift.

Back home for lunch then back out to Cooper's game.  My totally awesome in laws stayed with a sleeping Beckett and my father in law took Allison to her best friends birthday party.  It was absolutely fun to just drive with one kid and watch Cooper's entire game with out distraction. Cooper's team lost 2-0.  But all the boys played tough.

Back home to get dressed.  Richard came home and we head over to my in laws church for my nieces confirmation.  There were 51 confirmation canidents which meant a longer mass.  I didn't mind because Cooper slept through most of the whole thing and Richard took a loud Beckett out.  I was able to listen and enjoy quietly.  After mass we went with Richards family to Furris for a quick meal.  We actually closed the place down.

Allison played with her birthday gift from her cousin the new just dance wii game.  I had to grab a picture of her and Beckett dancing.

Skate party

We ended up having Allison's birthday party on Friday afternoon.  Richard was working through the weekend and we had many other commitments Saturday.  With this week being finals for Richard he was deep into his studies last week and working over time do some issues.  I usually do most of the birthday planning but at least I normally have Richards help.  Thankfully everything came together Friday.  We even had three of Allison's friends ride home with us after school.  Allison had 12 friends come to her skate party! We had glow bracelets/necklaces, pizza, drinks, and cupcakes!  The kids rarely came around because they didn't want to stop skating. Allison came in third place in the limbo!  I am so thankful our family and friends came to celebrate Allison's 9th birthday with us.

Museum

Last week we went to the petroleum museum.  Chevron host a bi-monthly event at the museum featuring different exhibits.  This event was creature feature.  They had many animals on display to see: horses, lambs, goats, birds, lizards, and snakes.  Many of the exhibits featured animal tracks, the food chain, hibernation, habitats, environments, and fossils.  They also have refreshments with desserts and drinks.  The kids always have a blast learning new things and touring the museum each time.

work work work

I didn't get the opportunity to blog much last week.  So these next few post I am going to be playing catch up.

Last week I had a lot of things I was involved in.  To begin with when I signed up for PTA we had just moved to Midland and I wanted to help with one of the events on the list for the year but we were renovating and Richard was still in New Mexico.  I signed up for one of the last big PTA activities for the year, teacher appreciation week in April.  It seemed far away, but I didn't realize it was the week of Allison's birthday.  The activities for the week were themed for the day for example Marker Monday and Thirsty Thursday.  Any child could participate and bring the themed gift to their teacher.  The room mom was responsible on filling a basket with goodies (the PTA provided the basket) to give to the teacher Friday.  We were to recruit parents into donating goodies for the basket.  The crazy part for me was doing this for both kids and making sure we went out the door with the teacher gift each day. I actually got very crafty with the gifts: M&M's Many & Many thanks for all you do (M&M candy for treat Tuesday) and  Awesome teacher for (AW root beer for thirsty Thursday). Friday was Flower Friday bring a flower or drawl a flower for you teacher and the kids picked roses from our rose bushes.  I am bummed I didn't take any pictures of the teacher gifts.

I was also in charge of our girls 8-11 church program called activity days last week.  The girls have a activity twice a month on the first and third Wednesday.  I am just the primary secretary but we had released the teacher in charge and we hadn't called another person to be take over.  I came up with an awesome lesson on friendship and the positive characteristic a friend should have.  I read a beautiful story on a two girls and their struggles in a friendship and how they worked through it.  I passed out friendship bracelets for the girls to give out to friend they choose with requirement of being kind and a good friend.  We also played a human scavenger hunt game so the girls get to get to know each other.  Afterwards we listed qualities of a good friend.  Then we made friendship trail mix, each snack represented a positive characteristic.  It went super well and all the girls seemed to have a fun time.

Lastly I was busy all week preparing and planning Allison birthday party on Friday.  I went to the store several times for all the party supplies.  Made, mailed, and personally handed out 16 invitations.  Put together 16 goodie bags.  Made 50 cupcakes.

I am so glad I survived the busy week and that everything came together!

Letter from mom

I wrote this to Allison yesterday.  This picture is from last Tuesday.  If were able Allison and I have a weekly ice cream date every Tuesday at baskin robins.

You turned 9 today.  Last year when you turned 8 I was ready.  We had been preparing for your baptism for a year. But nine it crept up on me. Your nearly my height, two more lousy inches and we will be the same height. We always knew you would be taller then me, I am the runt of my family.  Why has it happened so fast. I remember when you were hours old and I held you for the first time.  After your labor and weaning off the epidural I was weak.  My arms didn't seem strong enough to hold you.  But you fit perfectly into my arms.  Many times as you slept I would listen to you breath and watch you chest rise and fall. You didn't stay a baby for long.  You crawled, walked, and talked all before the normal milestones.  You came from heaven with a driven spirit.  You accomplish everything you set your mind to.  I hope you know there are no limits, dream big my daughter.  You stole my heart from the minute I first heard yours beat. Many memories were made today.  Happy birthday my Alli-cat I love you more than you could ever comprehend.
